Playa del Carmen reefs - Dive Sites

While diving the caribbean waters of Playa del Carmen and Riviera Maya Mexico, you will explore and discover the fabulous reefs of the second largest barrier reef on the planet. All dives are drift or with current. All reefs are awesome, and very close to the shore. Chun-zumbul: It is one of the longest and shallowest dives in Playa del Carmen. One of the most attractive parts of this reef is the coral cavern that you cna find almost at the end of dive, enjoy the school of fishes and others criatures.

Jardines: Which means "Gardens" and it is due to its vegetation, plus the sponges, fan and hard corals, plenty of color and sea life.

Sabalos: Which means "Tarpoons" and it is due to its schools of tarpoons that can be seen diving in this Playa del Carmen reef. Since its high current dive this reef always next to the edge, so that the current does not carry you to the top of the reef. Many animals and coral formations.

Barracuda: Situated south of Playa del Carmen, it is mainly the second shallow dive after dive Turtle reef. Lot to see.

Tortuga: Which means "Turtle". Situated south of Playa del Carmen. It is one of the best and most popular dives in Playa del Carmen. The main objective of diving this garden reef, is to see the large quantity of sea turtles ! It is also a drift dive, and besides the turtles you might sea different underwater life.

Mama Viña: This is a wreck dive. It is a formershrimp boat sunk in Playa del Carmen caribbean waters in 1995. Only for experienced divers due to strong currents. Multilevel and deep dive. Can be explored the inside rooms. Home to corals and animals.

Shark Point: Available only during winter season (December - March) its a sandy bottom where dive with bull sharks.

Cerebros: It is the least dived of the reefs of Playa del Carmen. Cerebros means "Brains" and it is home to many crustaceans, such us lobsters, crabs and shrimps. Also moray eels, scorpion fish and more animals.

Los Arcos: It is located just before Cerebros reef in Playa del Carmen. It is a relatively deep dive. On the sandy aereas can find turtles, groupers and stingrays, school of fishes, and many crustaceans. Becouse of its strong currents, diving this reef is just recommended for advanced divers.

Pared Verde:Which means "Green Wall". Spectacular coral formations full of marine life. At the end of the dive you will find a cavern with a Chimney, you can go through this hole and exits at the top of the reef, from here you can start your ascent to the surface.

Moc-che Deep:It is a sheer wall with sandy bottom at 30m (100ft) with current, which may change direction. During winter time (December - March) this reef might be frequented by bull sharks and eagle rays. Many underwater life.
